by Bābur (بابر)
“Baburnama” (بابرنامه) is the autobiography of Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire, written in Chagatai Turkic between approximately 899 AH (1493 CE) and 935 AH (1529 CE). This candid memoir details Babur’s journey from his early accession to the throne of Fergana at the age of 12, through his struggles and wanderings after losing his ancestral domains, to his eventual conquest of northern India. Renowned for its personal insights, vivid descriptions of Central and South Asian politics, warfare, and natural landscapes, the Baburnama later became a model for Mughal court chronicles after its translation into Persian during Akbar's reign.
