by Ibn Hayyan
Kitab al-Muqtabis is a historical chronicle composed in the 11th century CE (5th century AH) by Ibn Hayyan, a prominent historian from Cordoba. The work documents the history of al-Andalus from the initial Muslim conquest up to the author's time, with a particular focus on the administrative and courtly aspects of the Umayyad Caliphate of Córdoba. Renowned for its use of now-lost administrative documents and earlier chronicles, only portions of the original work survive. A Spanish translation of one section, titled Anales Palatinos del Califa de Córdoba, specifically focuses on the court life of the Cordoban caliphs.
