by Niẓām al-Mulk
Siyasatnamah (Book of Government) is a seminal political treatise composed by Nizam al-Mulk around 484 AH (1091 CE) in Isfahan. Written for the Seljuk Sultan Malik Shah, the work draws on the author's extensive experience as vizier to offer practical guidance on governance, administration, military affairs, and strategies for detecting and countering dissent and rebellion. Emphasizing the importance of order and religious orthodoxy within a conservative Sunni framework, the Siyasatnamah provides valuable insights into the administrative practices and political thought of the 11th-century Seljuk state.
