by Minhaj-i-Siraj (منهجالسراج)
Tabaqat-i Nasiri is a comprehensive historical chronicle composed by Minhaj-i-Siraj in Delhi around 658 AH (1260 CE). Covering the history of Islamic dynasties from the time of Adam to the Mamluk Sultanate of Delhi, the work is particularly valuable for its contemporary account of Razia Sultana’s reign (1236–1240 CE / 634–638 AH). Minhaj-i-Siraj, a scholar who served at the Delhi Sultanate court and witnessed many events firsthand, provides a respectful yet nuanced portrayal of Razia Sultana, acknowledging her capabilities as a ruler while also noting the challenges she faced as a female leader in a male-dominated political environment.
