by Sharaf ad-Din Ali Yazdi (شرف الدین علی یزدی)
“Zafarnama” (Book of Victory) is the official biography of Amir Timur, composed by Sharaf ad-Din Ali Yazdi and completed around 828 AH (1425 CE). Written in Shiraz under the patronage of Timur’s son Shah Rukh, it presents an idealized image of Timur as a great conqueror and ruler through ornate Persian prose and detailed campaign accounts. The work has been influential for centuries, with its 18th-century English translation—known as "The History of Timur Bec"—further expanding its reach.
